August so far...

Our August began with a trip to the Poconos.  Of course, we stopped in at Mimi and Poppop's for an overnight to break up the driving.  We visited with Mrs. Faye (Hi!!) while we were there :)

April snoozed in the car on the way to the Poconos...

Peter and Brooke hanging out inside ~ it was chilly in the mornings...but otherwise it was nearly perfect weather.  Not too hot, not too cold, just right!

The kiddos got to take a tractor ride (look at Connor's happy face, while Chloe is so serious!).

The three amigos.  Goofy, but loveable!

On Sunday, we drove to the beach....April slept in the car....

As a girl, my family always went to the beach the same evening we got there - just in case, say, a hurricane came and you had to leave the next day....at least you had seen the waves.  So, when we arrived at the beach house, we hurried to put on our suits and walk to the water.

I could live on the beach.  I love it. This is one happy lady :)...and her baby, who looks smashed, but actually loves the carrier. :)

Toes in the ocean for the first time!!

Mark and JungMin were there on Sunday and we spent the evening with them -- matching shirts!

Whats a trip to the boardwalk without getting ice cream? These girls enjoyed ice cream cones a few times during our stay!

Daddy took them mini golfing for the first time!  Do the look like pros?

(see Chloe's excellent form? hehe)

(I'm not totally sure what April is looking for....)

One evening I stayed behind and took a rest (Peter was up early on vacation!!) and the others went to the boardwalk to do the Ferris Wheel.  I'm not afraid of heights, unless my children are involved.  Just looking at these pictures makes me sick.  Ugh.  My babies should not be up this high!!

Thursday night was restaurant for dinner night!   We had delicious food and also had our picture taken before we left - our family of five!

Friday was "spend as much time on the beach as possible because its the last day" day.

This is Peter's Beach Hut.  Pretty nice to be a baby at the beach, huh?

Kevin buried our girls in the sand.  They thought it was hilarious.

Then we buried Daddy.  :)

Peter didn't love having his toes in the water on this day....ha! We didn't torture him,  don't worry!

Friday night we went as a family to the boardwalk.  Chloe wanted to ride this roller coaster, even after seeing it run.  She was tall enough to ride with an adult, so we got the tickets....

Do you see them?? In the FRONT car??

She survived! (But also said she didn't want to go again!)

More ice cream? Of course!  It was a great week at the beach!

Oh, and April slept while we packed up our stuff to head home on Saturday.  Surprised? :)

While standing on the beach on Friday, I learned my Mommom had passed away.
This is her, from her 80th birthday party....What a wonderful woman.
I praise God for her long life, that my girls have memories of her, and that she got to meet Peter.
I will miss her, and have been taking great comfort in knowing she is now worshiping her Creator!

These pictures just make me laugh ~ especially the last two. I have a feeling that Aunt Laura, in particular, will think those last two are funny also. :)

A dear friend

I'm leading the study tomorrow at my Bible Study. We're reading a book called Crazy Love by Francis Chan and the chapter I'm in 'charge of' of real life examples of people who are living completely for Christ. I've come up with an example from my own life to talk about and I thought I'd let my blog readers in on what I'm going to share tomorrow. Enjoy! I met Mrs. Hohman on a hot July afternoon after mistakenly knocking on her neighbor’s door. I stood on her front porch with my mom, nervously waiting to meet the woman I planned on living with for my first year at Grove City . I felt like I was towering over her short frame as she showed me the 3 rd floor and barked the rules of “no swearing, no smoking, no boys”. I handed over my rent check and moved to her house in late August. September came and a fellow freshman had a mental breakdown and her bed was now available to me…… So, after 3 weeks of living with Mrs. Hohman I moved out....
