"Glamping" 2014

When planning our summer vacation, we decided "glamping" (aka, glamor camping) was our best option.  Instead of a campsite, we stayed with our friends and with the Hoffmans....and had the use of electricity, air conditioning, and regular stoves :) Kevin and the girls slept in the tent, I was inside with Peter.

Here are some pictures from our week away!

9th Annual Camping Trip :)

Peter hanging with the girls...the lone boy!

Picnic grove behind the house!

"glamping" includes watching Frozen videos online :)

So happy to have a pool to stay cool

and AC to keep the little kids (and their moms) cool.  Can't even tell Heather is 38 weeks pregnant, can you?

A little back-yard kick ball

Braving thunderstorms in the camper!

We took a "hike"...which was really a walk on a gravel path, only to find out the path was closed due to some target practice. :)  These girls were ready for anything (binoculars, hats, sunglasses)

Two other families joined us for dinner one night -- 12 kids between the four families!  It was fun :) a little wild, but fun :)

The second half of our week was spent at the Hoffmans, also "glamping".  We had a great time with Chelle, Tom, Mawna, Pap, Connor, Brooke, Uncle Bill, and Aunt Laura!!

Babies!

Thursday was boating day -- these three are ready to go!

What's the difference between this picture:

and this one:
Poor Pap! the motor broke and the rowing started.  Uncle Bill came to the rescue with some kayaks, which were easier to paddle!!

Little campfire with some banjo :)  It has 6 strings, but I think it's still called a banjo :)

Friday was a pool day -- check out these bathing beauties (Brooke looks a little confused about being at the pool...)

Peter was also confused about being in a pair of swim trunks, that were long enough to be pants, and a non-breathable-swim-shirt, and a hat.  Silly mom made him sweat....he was soon changed back into the onesie, and kept in the shade!

Thursday night the ladies had the chance to get pedicures....Then, Aunt Laura provided some polish for April and Chloe...they were just a little happy :)

Saturday was...a blur....Kevin and Chelle woke up sick, but the rest of us were fine....Uncle Bill met Mawna and Pap at the park with the big kids, while the babies and Moms stayed back....we met up for lunch, then rested in the afternoon.

A birthday party was had for dinner, and then we snapped this family shot:

I love this crazy family of mine!! :)

So glad we made this happen! My girls are still talking about our backyard camping :) And in a few more days we'll all know whether Peter will have a camping buddy or if he'll have to make do as the only boy at the 10th annual adventure :)

More Bloopers

These pictures just make me laugh ~ especially the last two. I have a feeling that Aunt Laura, in particular, will think those last two are funny also. :)

A dear friend

I'm leading the study tomorrow at my Bible Study. We're reading a book called Crazy Love by Francis Chan and the chapter I'm in 'charge of' of real life examples of people who are living completely for Christ. I've come up with an example from my own life to talk about and I thought I'd let my blog readers in on what I'm going to share tomorrow. Enjoy! I met Mrs. Hohman on a hot July afternoon after mistakenly knocking on her neighbor’s door. I stood on her front porch with my mom, nervously waiting to meet the woman I planned on living with for my first year at Grove City . I felt like I was towering over her short frame as she showed me the 3 rd floor and barked the rules of “no swearing, no smoking, no boys”. I handed over my rent check and moved to her house in late August. September came and a fellow freshman had a mental breakdown and her bed was now available to me…… So, after 3 weeks of living with Mrs. Hohman I moved out....
