April at 9 months

April is such a happy baby! She's such a joy :)

We were at the doctor's today for her well-baby checkup and he thought she was doing great ... the only problem is that she's so small! At 9 months, she's just 14 pounds, 8 ounces. We will be going back in a few weeks for a weight check and in between now and then it's my goal to chunk her up a little bit! :)

April is saying 'ma', 'da', 'ba', and 'na' with the occasional other sound mixed in - like screams of excitement! :) She's always watching Chloe! April likes to sit and play with toys, but she's also starting to try to reach for things that are out of her grasp. She can fold herself in half reaching for something :) April likes to use things to pull up - the coffee table, a nearby chair, laundry baskets, mom's hands - anything she can find!

April's hair is just long enough to put a clip in, so she's been sporting one of those most the time. She has a bit of hair that's longer on the top ~ it's the hair that she was born with. The hair underneath is starting to get longer too....can't wait for ponytails!

April eats a variety of vegetables and fruits and we're slowly adding in some solids - peas have been rejected already! Some of her personality comes out while in the high-chair. She'll push my hand away if she doesn't want a bite of veggies :) She knows what she does and does not like!

Bathtime is still a favorite! She could stay in there forever I think! Another favorite of hers is puzzles! She likes to take out all the pieces ~ and she's really good :) Of course, that means I do a lot of puzzles during nap time :)

We love you April Hope ~ you've now been out of the womb for as long as you were in! Can't believe it was a year and a half ago that we found out you were coming. Seems like you've always been here :) You are a delight! :)

Wedding!

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Martin! :) We attended Natalie and Dallas' wedding on Saturday and had a lovely time. We know both the bride and groom from college....and just happen to be great friends with the bride's parents as well (Hi Bill and Doreen!). Here is the new couple - Natalie looked beautiful, and Dallas looked pretty good too ;) Here I am with the bride - check out her BLUE shoes! No wedding is complete without a little dancing and singing....particularly to Livin on a Prayer....Steve, Jeff, and Kevin sang at the top of their lungs and performed an air guitar solo: even the bride joined in: We had a great time! I'm thinking of the honeymooners.....kind of wishing I was on a tropical island somewhere too! :)

34 Weeks

34 weeks and my belly button has popped out :)  haha!  I'm still feeling a lot of movement and today my doctor said everything was great.  Here's some info on our "Baby Brother", as I refer to this little guy with Chloe and April: Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds ( about the size of a cantaloupe ) and is almost 18 inches long. His fat layers — which will help regulate his body temperature once he's born — are filling him out, making him rounder. His skin is also smoother than ever. His central nervous system is maturing and his lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor , you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
