Camping Trip

This past weekend we traveled to Cook Forest to camp with Grandma and Grandpa B, Aunt Michelle, Uncle Bill, Aunt Laura, and Connor. It was fantastic! Chloe and April both did great (well, I guess everyone was a little crabby the last day, but it was alright) and we had lots of things to keep us busy.

Got to keep the babies warm at night! Chloe had these very appropriate camo-jammies from Uncle Paul to keep her cozy:

and Connor looked too cute in his little hat:

Friday we set out (minus Laura and Connor because of naptime) for a hike through the woods and an attempt to find Longfellow....the tallest tree in the forest:

Bill thought this might be Longfellow:

Family of Four! :)

All the trees were huge - look at the roots of this one that had fallen! And, it's about as wide as Chloe is tall!!

Back at camp in the afternoon we headed to the pool....and hung out with these goofy people:

Saturday morning brought another trip to the forest to visit the Fire Tower and scenic overlook. Here's a picture with some perspective: Kevin and Bill are standing at the bottom of the tower (Kevin has a bright green shirt on).....it's really tall:

Bill the daredevil at the scenic overlook:

and....he just had to climb down here....so that he could say he was stuck between a rock and a hard place.... :)

we also visited a swinging/bouncing/swaying/scary bridge:

and then of course, spent the afternoon at the pool :) We were really roughing it :)

Saturday evening the campground hosted a birthday party for Smoky Bear (he turned 61). Guess who HATED the bear?

In case you can't tell in the picture, let's zoom in:
she's screaming and crying because she's getting to close.....um, yeah....and Connor was right behind her with a huge grin on his face :)

We each got our picture taken with Smoky:

Sunday morning was spent packing up our camp and taking a family photo! Matching outfits made by Grandma :)

We had a blast and are looking forward to more camping trips with these guys!

Baby Pool

Want to guess when Baby #2 is going to arrive? Post a comment, or send me an email, with your guess and I'll add you in! As a review, here are the rules to the game (taken from Heather Deterding!): 1. Post your guess for the baby's arrival in the "comment" section. Be sure to specify both date and time of day -- either "am" or "pm". 2. Limit one guess per person, and only one entry per time slot-- no sharing! 3. Winner is determined based on time of birth. For example, if the baby is born on April 20th at 7 AM, a guess of "April 20th, AM" would be the winner. In the event that there is no entry for the correct arrival time, the next closest guess based on actual time of birth would win. 4. We will post entries on the Calendar above. Check prior entries before placing your guess! Dates not displayed on the calendar above are still up for grabs. 5. The winner will receive... bragging rights and a congratulatory post h...

April Hope

Praise God! We are thrilled to announce the birth of April Hope, born this morning at 4:42 a.m. and weighing in at 8 lbs 3 oz. and 20.5 inches long. We think she is beautiful! Both April and Alison are doing great. Here are just a few of many pictures taken on her first day. More to come... Chloe at 11 months

I can hardly believe that Chloe will have her 1st birthday next month. She is getting increasingly mobile these days - her 'crawl' is getting faster and faster. She is also pulling up on anything she trusts and occasionally cruises from one place to another. If you watched the video, you have also seen that she can use the walker...but needs Dad's help on the turns :) Chloe still loves music of any kind ~ she sways back and forth when the music starts. Singing will bring her out of any temper tantrum or pout. She likes to be outside and still tries to eat rocks...something we're still slowly learning... Over Memorial Day, Chloe had quite an interest in the American flag and at the 4th of July we found that her love hadn't faded and she carried around the flag all day. She likes her new toys (nesting boxes and a "push the button, door pops open") but is still interested in some of her old ones. She likes anything with a lid and has a new fascination ...
