Chloe at 18 months

Chloe Grace is 1 1/2 years old! She's headed to the doctor's soon and we'll know how much she weighs and how tall she is. She is a great eater and thinks that pepper is a magical spice that makes things taste better (Cousin Matt would be proud!). She will also be keeping pace with the Deterding girls this summer with her love of ketchup. Her favorites would probably be cheese (of any kind - sliced, string, grilled, cheez-its), pasta, and milk. We're not hurting on the calcium intake here!

Chloe loves to color (I'll have to take some pictures of her artwork soon) and right now her drawings are mostly swirls and circles. She also really likes the little people that came with her lego set at Christmas, baby dolls of any kind, reading books, and the Cat in the Hat.

Chloe is an active little girl - walking, running, climbing into her chair and rocker, and dancing are some of the things she does several times a day :) She does sit still when you read to her and she enjoys looking through my scrapbooks. Chloe can correctly identify members of both sides of the family as well as some family friends. She also likes seeing people on skype, even if she only sits still for a few minutes of the conversation :)

She is practicing wrapping up baby dolls and "feeding" them with a spoon in preparation of becoming a big sister soon. She loves to carry a baby doll with her when we ride in the car or to church. If I tell her she can take something in the car, it's usually a baby that she chooses.

Chloe can say: Mama, Dada, cheese, bye-bye, hi, baby, no, and make animal noises for cow, duck, dog, lion, and sometimes duck. She also has her own version of Laura, for Aunt Laura. Sometimes she says other words, but this is the list that she says the most consistently. She jibber-jabbers all day long and likes to "sing" along with the radio, but usually only when it's a female singer.

Bath time is hit or miss with Chloe. She sometimes wants to stay in the water all night, but other times she's done in 10 minutes. She really enjoys the bath toys that Aunt Michelle got her but usually once we rinse her hair she's ready to be done (I don't know if she'll ever like that part!).

Parts of Chloe's personality are really taking shape - she is happy, curious, determined, and thoughtful. I love seeing her creativity in drawing and dancing and we're both learning about patience and independence :)

We love you Chloe! We're looking forward to seeing how you continue to change and grow!

We'll be bringing a huge container of ketchup on vacation this year, and Chloe can take home the leftovers:)

Wedding!

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Martin! :) We attended Natalie and Dallas' wedding on Saturday and had a lovely time. We know both the bride and groom from college....and just happen to be great friends with the bride's parents as well (Hi Bill and Doreen!). Here is the new couple - Natalie looked beautiful, and Dallas looked pretty good too ;) Here I am with the bride - check out her BLUE shoes! No wedding is complete without a little dancing and singing....particularly to Livin on a Prayer....Steve, Jeff, and Kevin sang at the top of their lungs and performed an air guitar solo: even the bride joined in: We had a great time! I'm thinking of the honeymooners.....kind of wishing I was on a tropical island somewhere too! :)

Baby Pool

Want to guess when Baby #2 is going to arrive? Post a comment, or send me an email, with your guess and I'll add you in! As a review, here are the rules to the game (taken from Heather Deterding!): 1. Post your guess for the baby's arrival in the "comment" section. Be sure to specify both date and time of day -- either "am" or "pm". 2. Limit one guess per person, and only one entry per time slot-- no sharing! 3. Winner is determined based on time of birth. For example, if the baby is born on April 20th at 7 AM, a guess of "April 20th, AM" would be the winner. In the event that there is no entry for the correct arrival time, the next closest guess based on actual time of birth would win. 4. We will post entries on the Calendar above. Check prior entries before placing your guess! Dates not displayed on the calendar above are still up for grabs. 5. The winner will receive... bragging rights and a congratulatory post h
