Thanksgiving 2010

We spent the holiday with Kevin's side of the family and had a great time!

Chloe and I watched some of the parade on Thursday morning:

and of course, Mimi's dinner was wonderful! We didn't get any pictures of the turkey, but Kevin did take a picture of the desserts:
cheesecake, pumpkin crunch, and chocolate cake by Mimi,
apple praline and caramel pecan by Abby

Mimi and Poppop brought Chloe back a souvenir from their trip....can you guess what it is? ;)

Before we left, we tried to get a good picture of the two youngest family members.....This is the best one I got:

Hmm....must have had too much turkey:
We had a great Thanksgiving and hope you did too!

Spring has sprung?

This week has brought some strange weather! On Saturday, it was freezing while we watched Peter's baseball game - it was the "late night, under the lights" 8:00 pm game. and my toes were numb when the game was over. Then, Sunday was beautiful weather to watch soccer! April scored TWO goals in her game! We had a silent-auction at a church lunch on Sunday to raise money for the Youth Group Missions Trip. Peter bid on a cooler full of interesting flavored soda-pop....and he won! The first one he tried? Pickle Pop.  For a few years, our neighborhood has been the area of choice for a few mallard ducks to nest. The momma duck picked my neighbors' driveway this year...it seems like Spring must be coming if there are eggs!

Crazy May

As is typical with three active kids, we've had a busy last few weeks! Photos coming soon of the dance recital, Peter's birthday party, school activities and more :)  Here is our May started: No power for 5 days! A wind-storm went through our area and several power lines were knocked over. We did have school for 3 days. The weather was perfectly sunny and 70 degrees, so it wasn't too bad :)

Thanksgiving Turkey

My brother-in-law raises turkeys, and we had one on Thanksgiving this year! It was a 31 pound turkey and took up a lot of space in my refrigerator for a few days before the holiday. I started the cooking process early so it was done by lunchtime.  Here is the turkey, barely fitting into my oven!  "the farmer and the chef" :)
