Summer Recap

It was a busy, fast summer! We started the first day of the pool being open with thunder....so we came home and did the hose sprinkler instead :)

The girls had their dance recital the first weekend in June & loved it!

We celebrated the last day of school with ice cream! :)

After ice cream, we headed to my uncle's camp for the weekend. The kids all took a turn shooting - Peter is showing his target. It was our first time pulling & using the pop-up camper.

The first week of summer brought our first of many days at the Zoo. The kids enjoy seeing the animals & it's always different!

During the last week in June we had VBS. Here we are celebrating on Friday after VBS was over :)

July brought lots of time away from work and home. We got to meet up with our friends, the Jones', on July 1. We had a great day with them!

July 4th weekend brought picnics, biking, swimming, and fireworks!

In mid-July we left for 10 days. It was our longest vacation! We got to stop in and see Kevin's mom and had a nice visit :)  Then we headed to VA to see some friends. Finally, we arrived at the beach!

When we got back from our vacation, the girls did a week of church camp and I took Peter to the Zoo - and we saw the polar bear jump in the water! Can you see the excitement on Peter's face? :)

At the end of July we had our 16th annual camping with the Deterdings. We were excited to use the pop-up again. We had a great weekend & stayed cool! We were worried that it was going to be really hot, but the weather was lovely. We got to do a lot of kayaking and paddle boarding.

We did make it to the pool several afternoons.
I don't usually take my phone, but one time I did and got this gem:

We ended up July with a cousin sleep-over. These goofballs always have tons of fun together!

August brought the last of our traveling. We took our pop-up to Rickett's Glen and did the waterfall hike there. It was declared the coolest hike we've ever done. :)

From there, we camped at my uncle's property with my Dad's side of the family. Lots of kids, lots of hidden flamingos found, and a few blueberries eaten! We took an afternoon trip to see Boulder Field which is close by. Very cool to see in person!

When we got back, we celebrated Chloe turning 12 on the 12th. Kevin got her a dozen roses, and we enjoyed a trip to the Zoo and tacos for dinner on her birthday.
Kevin's dad, brother, and sister-in-law came out for the weekend and we spent some time at a local nature preserve and playground!

Next post will be back-to-school photos!

Wedding!

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Martin! :) We attended Natalie and Dallas' wedding on Saturday and had a lovely time. We know both the bride and groom from college....and just happen to be great friends with the bride's parents as well (Hi Bill and Doreen!). Here is the new couple - Natalie looked beautiful, and Dallas looked pretty good too ;) Here I am with the bride - check out her BLUE shoes! No wedding is complete without a little dancing and singing....particularly to Livin on a Prayer....Steve, Jeff, and Kevin sang at the top of their lungs and performed an air guitar solo: even the bride joined in: We had a great time! I'm thinking of the honeymooners.....kind of wishing I was on a tropical island somewhere too! :)

34 Weeks

34 weeks and my belly button has popped out :)  haha!  I'm still feeling a lot of movement and today my doctor said everything was great.  Here's some info on our "Baby Brother", as I refer to this little guy with Chloe and April: Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds ( about the size of a cantaloupe ) and is almost 18 inches long. His fat layers — which will help regulate his body temperature once he's born — are filling him out, making him rounder. His skin is also smoother than ever. His central nervous system is maturing and his lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor , you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
