April at 12 months

What a wonderful girl!We just love April Hope and all the joy she brings our family!!

She is developing into a fun sister - the bigger she gets, the more she and Chloe interact and it's great to watch!  She's voicing her opinion more and more when things are taken away or shared :) When she gets to do something that she's seen Chloe do, April gets really excited.  Being up on the couch, looking out the window, and hopping on the bed are things that make her think she's big stuff ;)

One of April's favorite things to do is look through books.  She will, on her own, crawl into her room and pull a bunch of books off the shelf and take her time looking through them.  (I also love when she does this!)  She likes to be read to, of course, and her favorites seem to be "Tails" and "Brown Bear, Brown Bear"

April has started rocking babies this month :)  It's fun to see!  She is content to look through most boxes of toys and has a few favorites.  She's crawling everywhere, so she can move onto other things when she wants!

April can clap, wave, blow kisses, show you where her belly and her head are, and say many different sounds.  She can follow simple directions, climb up steps, and cruise around furniture.  On May 1st she took her first steps!!  Of course, crawling is much faster, so she's only taken about 8 steps on her own, but she does like to "walk" with help from Mom or Dad.

We went to the doctors on Monday evening and our "peanut" now weighs more than Chloe did at 12 months!! She's up to 19 pounds, 6 ounces and is 28 inches long.  That puts her in the 25th percentile for weight and we couldn't be happier! :)  She eats most things (veggies still being her least favorite!) and sometimes at dinner she goes so fast I can hardly keep up :)  She has also said goodbye to bottles and moved on to full-time sippy cups.

She takes 2 naps each day, one morning and one afternoon, and sleeps from 8 to 8 at night.  She's becoming more aware of Chloe being in the room, so sometimes it's a bit later than 8 that the room is quiet :)  I had to move the furniture around in their room because April was pulling toys from a basket into her crib.  When I heard a set of toy keys being played with at 7:30am one morning, I decided it was time to move things around :)

We love this girl to pieces.  Happy 12 months April Hope!

Wedding!

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Martin! :) We attended Natalie and Dallas' wedding on Saturday and had a lovely time. We know both the bride and groom from college....and just happen to be great friends with the bride's parents as well (Hi Bill and Doreen!). Here is the new couple - Natalie looked beautiful, and Dallas looked pretty good too ;) Here I am with the bride - check out her BLUE shoes! No wedding is complete without a little dancing and singing....particularly to Livin on a Prayer....Steve, Jeff, and Kevin sang at the top of their lungs and performed an air guitar solo: even the bride joined in: We had a great time! I'm thinking of the honeymooners.....kind of wishing I was on a tropical island somewhere too! :)

34 Weeks

34 weeks and my belly button has popped out :)  haha!  I'm still feeling a lot of movement and today my doctor said everything was great.  Here's some info on our "Baby Brother", as I refer to this little guy with Chloe and April: Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds ( about the size of a cantaloupe ) and is almost 18 inches long. His fat layers — which will help regulate his body temperature once he's born — are filling him out, making him rounder. His skin is also smoother than ever. His central nervous system is maturing and his lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor , you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
