Peas!

On Friday, Chloe tried a vegetable for the first time and it was peas. These pictures show her progression of like to dislike:

Ready for the peas

First few bites, no problem

By about the third bite, she was realizing something was a little different
biting the spoon when it came to her mouth

This look says "do I have to eat any more?"

No more peas please!

Chloe has liked the peas during her last few meals. In fact, she ate them for breakfast this morning with almost no complaints! I would sneak in a spoonful of peas in between the cereal bites and she just gulped them down! :)

So cute! It just takes awhile to get used to foods that are green. :)

Horray for peas! I'm glad that she's getting them down now. Emmalyn went from hating them to preferring them to anything else.

Spring has sprung?

This week has brought some strange weather! On Saturday, it was freezing while we watched Peter's baseball game - it was the "late night, under the lights" 8:00 pm game. and my toes were numb when the game was over. Then, Sunday was beautiful weather to watch soccer! April scored TWO goals in her game! We had a silent-auction at a church lunch on Sunday to raise money for the Youth Group Missions Trip. Peter bid on a cooler full of interesting flavored soda-pop....and he won! The first one he tried? Pickle Pop.  For a few years, our neighborhood has been the area of choice for a few mallard ducks to nest. The momma duck picked my neighbors' driveway this year...it seems like Spring must be coming if there are eggs!

Crazy May

As is typical with three active kids, we've had a busy last few weeks! Photos coming soon of the dance recital, Peter's birthday party, school activities and more :)  Here is our May started: No power for 5 days! A wind-storm went through our area and several power lines were knocked over. We did have school for 3 days. The weather was perfectly sunny and 70 degrees, so it wasn't too bad :)

Thanksgiving Turkey

My brother-in-law raises turkeys, and we had one on Thanksgiving this year! It was a 31 pound turkey and took up a lot of space in my refrigerator for a few days before the holiday. I started the cooking process early so it was done by lunchtime.  Here is the turkey, barely fitting into my oven!  "the farmer and the chef" :)
