Blog Shout Out

This post is a 'shout-out' to my friend Christine. Here she is next to me (in the tan sweater) at a friend's wedding in 2007 - I thought it would be fun to post an old picture.....actually, this is one of the latest pictures I have of her and me!

I have seen her since 2007 :) She came to meet Chloe...but I didn't take any pictures of her with me....

Anyway, this post is about how Christmas arrives at our house every year in a box that's from Christine & her husband....It's with great joy that I open the packaging to see what baked goods have come.

and this year? It's our family in gingerbread form.....could it get any better?

oh, it just did.....
and don't ask whether any of this is still around, or if I ate it all. :)

Thank you Christine & Justin for bringing Christmas to our house :) Maybe we can get together for a 2012 photo :)

Thanksgiving Turkey

My brother-in-law raises turkeys, and we had one on Thanksgiving this year! It was a 31 pound turkey and took up a lot of space in my refrigerator for a few days before the holiday. I started the cooking process early so it was done by lunchtime.  Here is the turkey, barely fitting into my oven!  "the farmer and the chef" :)

Spring has sprung?

This week has brought some strange weather! On Saturday, it was freezing while we watched Peter's baseball game - it was the "late night, under the lights" 8:00 pm game. and my toes were numb when the game was over. Then, Sunday was beautiful weather to watch soccer! April scored TWO goals in her game! We had a silent-auction at a church lunch on Sunday to raise money for the Youth Group Missions Trip. Peter bid on a cooler full of interesting flavored soda-pop....and he won! The first one he tried? Pickle Pop.  For a few years, our neighborhood has been the area of choice for a few mallard ducks to nest. The momma duck picked my neighbors' driveway this year...it seems like Spring must be coming if there are eggs!
