A Trip to Grandma and Grandpa's

On Friday afternoon we set out to surprise Kevin's dad with a visit ~ he had retired earlier in the week and we thought we'd celebrate with him for the weekend. Kevin's mom knew we were coming....but I think we successfully surprised Grandpa S. :)

Chloe could hardly believe that they had a play sweeper:

She played with this a lot during the weekend....and all their other cool toys as well :)

Saturday was sunny (but windy!) so we got to hang out at the playground for a little bit. Chloe loved the slides:

And everyone got a chance to swing:

We also got to visit with Aunt Karen, Uncle Bob, and Stephen. Stephen would have made an excellent big brother (he's the little brother in his family) - he was very nice with Chloe, showing her how this tape player worked....although, he was probably a little disappointed that she can't say Stephen yet. We're still practicing though ~ maybe she'll have it down soon and I'll be able to put it on video! :)

We went to church on Sunday and then began our car ride home. We had a great visit and the next time Kevin's parent see us, we'll be a family of 4! :)

Spring has sprung?

This week has brought some strange weather! On Saturday, it was freezing while we watched Peter's baseball game - it was the "late night, under the lights" 8:00 pm game. and my toes were numb when the game was over. Then, Sunday was beautiful weather to watch soccer! April scored TWO goals in her game! We had a silent-auction at a church lunch on Sunday to raise money for the Youth Group Missions Trip. Peter bid on a cooler full of interesting flavored soda-pop....and he won! The first one he tried? Pickle Pop.  For a few years, our neighborhood has been the area of choice for a few mallard ducks to nest. The momma duck picked my neighbors' driveway this year...it seems like Spring must be coming if there are eggs!

Thanksgiving Turkey

My brother-in-law raises turkeys, and we had one on Thanksgiving this year! It was a 31 pound turkey and took up a lot of space in my refrigerator for a few days before the holiday. I started the cooking process early so it was done by lunchtime.  Here is the turkey, barely fitting into my oven!  "the farmer and the chef" :)

Crazy May

As is typical with three active kids, we've had a busy last few weeks! Photos coming soon of the dance recital, Peter's birthday party, school activities and more :)  Here is our May started: No power for 5 days! A wind-storm went through our area and several power lines were knocked over. We did have school for 3 days. The weather was perfectly sunny and 70 degrees, so it wasn't too bad :)
