Mini Vacation - Day One

Last week, Kevin was able to take some time off from work and we enjoyed a mini-vacation. First up was Chloe's first trip to the zoo. She spent a lot of time looking like this:

Peering over/around the stroller to see all the interesting sites. Of course, if she couldn't see the animals in the exhibit, we took her out to look. I asked Chloe where the rhinoceros was....

Yep! That's it! :)

We had a really good view of the elephants....although Chloe seemed more interested in their fountain and water....

and this giraffe was eating leaves off the tree:

The gorillas had just finished eating lunch....

and the American Black Bear was taking a nap:

Chloe's favorite part of the day was the time we spent in the aquarium. She liked being close to the fish and watching them swim around.

We saw sting-rays...
and the polar bear....

and watched the sharks eat lunch!
The last animals we saw were the sea lions. Kevin was taking video while one sea lion started following Chloe and I! It was pretty funny!

We had a great day at the zoo! Next post: what we did for the rest of our vacation!

Camping Trips #2 and #3

At the beginning of August, we went on a camping trip with my immediate family. We had great campsites, right next to each other, and had fabulous weather. Chloe had a great time hanging out with her Aunt Laura, Uncle Bill, and Aunt Michelle: She also loved my dad's cell phone ringtone: Who says you can't eat great food while you're camping? Check out our dinner feast on Saturday night....Corn on the cob, cheeseburgers, grilled pineapple: Chloe had her first taste of the "beach" when we went to the lake one day. It was the first time she was in the sand, and I think she really liked it! When looking back at the camping pictures, I realized that Chloe wore a lot of hats on this trip: We got back from a Cousins Camping Trip on Sunday night. (Almost) All my cousins got together for the weekend and we had a great time. Another camping trip with good campsites and this time we just had okay weather. It rained Saturday night so everything was a bit soggy on Sunday ...

34 Weeks

34 weeks and my belly button has popped out :)  haha!  I'm still feeling a lot of movement and today my doctor said everything was great.  Here's some info on our "Baby Brother", as I refer to this little guy with Chloe and April: Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds ( about the size of a cantaloupe ) and is almost 18 inches long. His fat layers — which will help regulate his body temperature once he's born — are filling him out, making him rounder. His skin is also smoother than ever. His central nervous system is maturing and his lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor , you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
